Once upon a time!
As I write this, I am just laughing at my younger self for being so silly and falling into this perfect beauty trap! But hey, everyone goes through this phase and that’s how you master the art of skincare and develop your make up style. Isn’t it? I am sure you can relate to this.
My mom successfully convinced me to believe that makeup isn’t good for your skin and so I always shied away from makeup. The only make up I was into during my teenage years was Kohl, fair and lovely cream and a lipstick on rare occasions.

THE KAJAL (KOHL) PHASE!
Hello Panda! Goshhh! Those high school days, what was I even thinking? I used to wear kajal almost daily to school to make up for my sleepy eyes and look more presentable. But little did I realise that kohl wasn’t doing anything for my small eyes other than make it appear smaller. Anyway, I still remember how much of a struggle it was to apply kajal with your fingers. Gel kohl did not exist back then which means black panda eyes by the end of a sleepy lecture.
THE FAIR AND LOVELY CREAM OBSESSION PHASE
Go ahead and judge me but I was very much obsessed with applying fair and lovely during my 7th grade. This is one habit that was very difficult to get rid of because it used to instantly brighten my face for some time and who doesn’t like it? Thank god that I met a dermatologist at the right time and was educated about the bleaching ingredients and it’s ill effects on my skin! pheeeeww
THE WRONG FOUNDATION SHADE PHASE
Admit it. Everyone has faced this. Finding the right shade of foundation is a serious job! So my very first experience was trying out my mother’s foundation which was like 2 shades lighter than me. Great! I so I wore the wrong shade of foundation and looked like a ghost anyway! To be honest, I still haven’t found the right foundation shade.*Sighs*
THE NO SUNSCREEN PHASE
This is the worst thing one can do to their skin. But in my defense I was young and could not really find the right sunscreen for my skin type and almost every other sunscreen made my skin oily.*Still guilty*
THE SLEEK EYEBROW PHASE
Never follow any beauty trends blindly. I learned it the hard way. Don’t listen to your parlor didis! Getting my eyebrows threaded to a very fine sleek shape because it was what everyone did turned out to be the worst decision ever.
